Let me tell you, engagements get me “right in the feels!” When Brady called me looking for someone to photograph his proposal to Emily I practically lept through the phone and high-fived him! He wanted to propose right after sunrise on the driftwood beach. Normally when I photograph there we work around the tide because at high tide there is not a lot of room to walk around the trees, but because we were going for a sunrise proposal we just waded through the water to make it around the trees! Emily probably thought I was a crazy person. Like ohhh, lets just walk in the water while your in a dress (because in my head I’m thinking oh man, I have to find a spot where Brady can get down on one knee to pop the question and there CANNOT BE WATER BECAUSE WHAT IF HE DROPS THE RING!!)
He lured her there under the pretense of a photo session so Brady and I had worked out that I would direct him into a “prom pose” so her back would be to him and that would give him time to get down on one knee. So I direct them into the prom pose and in my head I’m chanting “please say yes” (how awful would it be if you hired me to photograph your proposal and the girl said no!) Then I breathed a sigh of relief when she did say YES! It was so sweet and Brady and Emily had me take a photo with their iPhones so they could share with friends and family.
After finishing the photos we walked back to our cars and we were covered in salt and sand, but it was worth it. Emily eats breakfast with her dad at T-Rays on the weekends and they were headed there to share the news!
Brady, I am so glad you found me and that I got to be a part of this moment. I will be cheering for you guys from now until forever!
