“Marriage is hard.”
Recently I read an article that marriage isn’t hard – sin is hard. Isn’t that so spot on?! Most days marriage IS NOT hard. Most days it’s a beautiful blessing. On the days when I am selfish, ungrateful, stubborn, proud – those are the days when marriage is hard. I’m making it hard – instead of just allowing marriage to be the blessing that it is. So, Savannah and Tyee, remember the love you feel in these moments when you feel like marriage is getting hard. There will be hard times, but those times are meant to draw you even closer together. It won’t always be sunshine and sunflowers, but it will ALWAYS be worth it. I say that young love is my favorite love, and that’s because I have been surrounded by wonderful examples of parents and grandparents that married young and are still married 30, 50 and even 60 years later. If you ask those examples what the secret to a long happy marriage is they will tell you to make room for forgiveness. To never say things in the moment that you can never take back. To love with your whole heart and let the other person know how much you appreciate them. Savannah, you and Tyee have got enough love in your hearts to make the world go ’round. You guys will do big things together in the future. I know your wedding is going to be just as beautiful as you guys are, but remember that the goal is to have a marriage even more beautiful than that wedding. You guys were a joy to photograph and made me remember why I love young love so much!
